xword v0.03
Patrick Crosby <pcrosby@pobox.com>

The AcrossLite UNIX binaries have never worked for me, so I wrote xword to remedy the problem. xword should be able to read any AcrossLite puzzle file. Hopefully, the interface is pretty self-explanatory, but here's a little documentation in case:

Cursor Movement:

  • Use arrow keys to move cursor around. If currently doing an "Across" clue, pressing the down/up arrow will switch to the "Down" clue and the cursor won't move.
  • Ctrl + Right Arrow: go to next across clue
  • Ctrl + Left Arrow: go to previous across clue
  • Ctrl + Down Arrow: go to next down clue
  • Ctrl + Up Arrow: go to previous down clue
  • Home: go to upper left corner
  • End: go to lower right corner
  • Clicking anywhere in the puzzle with the mouse will also move the cursor to that position.

Answer Entry:

  • Just type it in. Use Backspace or Delete to erase.

Saving Puzzle:

  • Ctrl-S or the Save button

Opening Puzzle:

  • Open button. If the puzzle has a save file associated with it, the save file will be automatically loaded.
