Monotheka - A DIVX/DVD LIBRARY FOR THE GNOME DESKTOP

Monotheka is simple application to organize and keep track of your movie collection. It runs on Linux platform using the GTK toolkit. It's designed to be simple and GNOME / HIG compliant. It's written in Mono. It's free.

BUGS should be reported to bugzilla clone on Novell Forge (Development page). You can find the link on the homepage. There are also some user forums there. You're encouraged to report all your problems/requests there.

If possible - please attach the 'configure.log' file created by the configure script.

REQUIREMENTS

  • mono >= 1.0.6
  • gtk-sharp >= 1.0.4
  • glade-sharp >= 1.0.4
  • gtkhtml-sharp >= 1.0.4
  • gnome-sharp >= 1.0.4
  • gconf-sharp >= 1.0.4
  • sqlite >= 2.8 (but not >=3)

Check the 'INSTALL' file for specific instructions regarding the installation process. Mono 1.1.x is STRONGLY recommended.

FEATURES

  • Add/Edit/Delete movies
  • Search through database to quickly list (& sort) movies by director, movies by year etc.

  • Plugin interface to import data
  • Plugin interface to export data.
  • Plugin interface to auto-fill movie data (from external sources)
  • Intelligent "remember values" system. Once you enter something (director, borrower, country...) in to any combo-box it stays there.
  • Flagging movies in the collection (rare, broken CD, copy needed, etc.)
  • Movies are highlighted with custom colors (new, borrowed, over-borrowed)
  • Borrowers management.
    PLUGINS
  • CSVImport - Imports data from comma-separated text file.
  • AMCImport - import Ant Movie Catalogue files.
  • TXTExport - to export collection to plain text.
  • IMDBGet - to fetch movie data from Internet Movie DataBase. A bit of auto-logic included.
  • FilmwebGet - to fetch movie data from www.filmweb.com
  • AVIGet - to auto-fill movie data (Codecs, Resolution) from AVI file
  • HTMLExport - to export collection to HTML (with layout templates.

PLANNED FEATURES:

Monotheka is in an early stage of development. Although it's somehow usable right now, we plan to include lots of new features to make it a fully-functional, complete movie database system for collectors. That include:

  • Localization for different languages.
  • GNOME integration
  • Beagle backend/filter
  • Posters/covers support (possibly with "auto-fetch poster" plugins)
  • Some statistics for the database
  • "Wish list"
  • Advanced searching
