CVM, the CAPI Voice Mail system, provides a replacement for Vgetty that runs natively on the Linux CAPI interface. It provides basically the same functionality as Vgetty and can be scripted using a Perl module. CVM allows you to easily turn your Linux box with CAPI-driven ISDN cards into an answering machine. Key advantages over Vgetty include
- Better stability and responsiveness, i.e. no re-initialization delays between calls
- Full control over the call: as soon as the call comes in, a script responding to the call can decide whether actually to accept or reject it while it is still ringing
- Better sound quality
