Cheetah is a very minimal web server for testing small local sites, or to continue to serve some content while configuring your primary web server. It has very few features, except that it will serve files in a directory under a user-specified port, does not require root access and can serve Last Modified information to aid caching..
I was once on a very long flight and trying to test some HTTP user-agent code, yet forgot to install Apache on my local machine - hence Cheetah.
