YaRET: Yet another Ripper Encoder Thingy http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/yaret/ (Original version: January 1999, Rewritten: February 2002)

Originally Written by Marco Nenciarini (mnencia@prato.linux.it), later rewritten by Adam Luter (luterac@auburn.edu).

YaRET is distributed 'as is' with no warranty of any kind. The Author(s) are not to be held responsible for any use or misuse of this product or the result thereof.

This is a Perl script that automates the creation of mp3 files, ogg files or any encoded music file format, from the original CD. It makes life easy by supporting CDDB lookups, and your favorite encoder. Your settings are stored in ~/.yaretrc, so 90% of the time you just type 'yaret' and a few minutes later you have a directory full of music, mmm tastey!

Please see the INSTALL file for instructions. Besides the files contained in this distribution, you also need to install some modules listed in the INSTALL file -- which outlines how to obtain and install them.

YaRET is customizable to use any encoder, ripper and/or normalizer. You simply tell it how to call the program, and it will be so! By default several encoders, rippers and normalizers are supported. Such as lame, bladeenc, oggenc, flac, cdparanoia, cdda2wav and normalize.

YaRET is powerful and simple! And we hope you like it!

Any comments and/or suggestions are appreciated. (good or bad)

Please report bugs!!

Thanks,
The Management
