LAMP: Linux Audio Mangling Project
INTRODUCTION
1.- What is LAMP?
- LAMP is an audio editor for Linux with most of the usual features found in other audio editting packages plus some other odd ones that we hope you enjoy.
- LAMP is the product of our Senior Projects class at UNR.
- LAMP is our small contribution to the Open Source Community.
2.- Why LAMP?
- Because we had not found many easy to use and modern audio editting tools for Linux.
- Because playing with noise is fun.
3.- Features
- Reads WAV, AIFF, AIFF-C and AU files.
- Supports LADPSA plugins.
- Reads several configuration options (from ~/.lamprc) like: WaveView colors, number of undo, temporary directory specification, the path for the LADSPA plugins etc.
- Recording from different sources.
- Basic Editting functions like: cut, copy, paste, undo. Plus others like: merge, silence, insert.
- Ability to do editing on a specific channel when working with stereo files.
- Different playing modes. (section, looping, entire file)
- Changing the scaling options for the Wave view.
COMPILING AND USING
First of all you have to make sure that you have all the necessary libraries to build the package. They are:
- GTK+ 1.2
- libaudiofile
- LADSPA Header file.
It is very likely that the first 2 are already installed in your PC. for LADSPA, you can download it from:
1.- If you are using a cvs snapshot
After you have all the necessary components, just type:
make
from the root directory of the lamp distribution. If everything went well, you can now run lamp from the command line by typing
./lamp
on the lamp root directory.
2.- If you are using a tarball release
./configure
make
make install
USING LAMP
Documentation for the project is not yet ready but will be available shortly.
