Quick Record
This GNOME panel applet makes one-click (don't tell Amazon) recording of real-time music or speech possible. For instance, if you listen to radio on your computer you may want to spontaneously record some program - other recording programs require you to start them and you always lose a few seconds from the beginning. With Quick Record you can also define a prerecord buffer so a few seconds of music prior to the click is saved.
Quick Record is distributed under the GNU GPL.
Installation
If your GNOME installation came with your distribution, you will probably want to compile Quick Record with:
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc
make
make install
If your GNOME installation resides in some other directories you may need to use some other directories.
Usage
There is not much documentation yet. Everything in the preferences should be quite self-explanatory.
When not prerecording or recording (applet idle) the "REC" string is gray. When you turn on prerecording (from the menu) the string turns black. When you click the applet, Quick Record writes the prerecord buffer to the next available file (if prerecording is on) and then starts recording until you click the applet again. While recording the "REC" string is red.
