this kit allows you to play dvd's from a dvdrom without a zone set, it uses a modified version of the libcss (thanks to the css implementation of videolan.org) to stay compatible with players like xine, oms and mplayer, the installed libcss is backward compatible with the original one so you don't break anything.
To install the modified libcss: just decompress libcss-fly-...tar.gz , configure with your prefered prefix, make and make install
to patch your mplayer or oms: just cd to the uncompressed player's source dir, do patch -p1 < whateverplayer.diff
just compile it, install it and voila, your able to read dvd from any zone with your favorite player.
to read encrypted dvd with xine, install the modified libcss, decompress xine-dvd-plugin....tar.gz, cd into it's dir, configure with the same prefix as xine, make and make install.
a small util to rip .VOB is included in the xine-dvd-plugin... called dvdrip.
in the regionset archive you'll find an utility which allows you to see the state of the region set on your dvd and to set it (not recommended).
