'TVNOW for Linux' is a free program that displays the TV Listings that are provided by the TVNOW company http://www.tv-now.com/index.html

Listings are provided at http://www.tv-now.com/whatis.htm. Free listings for the weekend are available and subscriptions for yearly listing are very low cost.

INSTALLATION

USAGE

- start up TVNOW - obtain a tv listing from http://www.tv-now.com/whatis.htm - put that listing into the ~/.tvnow/tvfiles directory - select the LOAD tab from the TVNOW program - select and load the file that you got - select the BUILD tab from the TVNOW program - fill out all the items on the Build page then select BUILD This process may take quite a few minutes to build the database. - Select the LISTINGS tab the TVNOW program

CONSOLE VERSION

  • intended to be used by blind people with speech synthesizer software
  • start up with parameter "c" tvnow c
  • can be started in unpacked directory

    Only display search listing once if selected.

If you make corrections or additions to the program, please e-mail me so that I can incorporate them into the source (with credit to your name of course). Please keep in mind that this project is GPL (see COPYING file) so do not use copyrighted material in your changes/additions to the unit descriptions that you submit to me.

A good book for learning Python is the O'Reilly "Learning Python" book by Mark Lutz and David Ascher.

Version number is stored in the tvnow text file and the Makefile.
