The use of program:
xmtomid mapfile xmfile midfile [copyrighter] [tempo factor]
You can find an example mapfile in this directory. Optionally a copyrighter's name (length < 26 characters) may be specified. You can alter the tempo by specifying a tempo factor, e.g., the tempo factor of 2.0 makes the tempo twice as slow as the original one.
