This project is still alpha, but seems to work as a basic tuner on my machine. Please see INSTALL for instructions on installation.

Running

Simply run hounddog with no arguments, and a small window should popup. Note hounddog currently only supports reading data directly from /dev/dsp, so this device should exist, and should not be opened in other applications. Many KDE environments run artsd, which you will have to suspend while hounddog is running (this can be accomplished by the command artsshell suspend). You may also want to open your mixer application and ensure that the microphone input (or whatever input you are concerned with) is set to be the source for recording. Some mixers give separate record/play levels, so make sure you set the right ones.

Adjusting settings:
The default settings should work fairly well. You may want to play around with the graphical monitor display, although it is not very useful yet. Decreasing sample rate and overlap factor will reduce load on the CPU, although this should not be a problem on most hardware.
