This is my very first attempt to realize a software. I just noticed that weren't proxy hunter tools with a Graphic User Interface available for Linux, so on July 2003 I started developing one: Mizio. This software is not perfect, of course there are bugs, things that can be done in a better way etc, etc. Drop me an email with your counsel, wishes, I will do my best to implement them even though Mizio has a lot of things to be implemented yet:

  1. The proxy checking it is very slow, 3000 and so on proxies are fetched from the web when Google result is set to 100 and it takes time to check them all.
  2. During the check Mizio takes a lot of CPU cycles, something is wrong, I'm investigating the matter.

Anyway Mizio does well its job which has been designed for: checking the anonymity of proxies. My sys admin blocked packets directed to port 80 so I have been forced to use another port (32000) but I heard that some proxies do not send X-Forwarded-For header when destination port is different than 80, anyway I used www.cotse.com and www.samair.ru to test Mizio's job and I haven't found any difference.

Many are the features I want to add to Mizio, stay tuned !! If you want to see what Mizio does, run it from the console. Safeguard your privacy over the Internet but don't abuse of this software:

Knives are useful to cut things but are not when used to kill. Vehicles are useful to move people and goods but are not when used to kill. Nuclear energy is useful to produce electricity but it isn't when used to kill. Mizio is useful to surf the Internet anonimously but it isn't when used maliciously !
