Gtapecalc README

Gtapecalc is a simple calculator with the added feature of an output window that displays calculations like the paper tape of a desktop calculator. You can add notes on the same line as a calculation and Save, Open and Print the tapes that you make.

There are some configuration options that can be set using the Preferences dialog. Preferences will be saved in "$(HOME)/.gtapecalcrc" for most options, and "$(HOME)/.gtapecalcgtkrc" for gtk-theme related options only if you choose OK in the Preferences dialog. If these files don't exist, then it will use a default set of preferences.

The help system relies on there being one of three html browsers on the system. The configure script looks for Netscape, gnome-help-browser, and then lynx using the first one that it finds. If you would like to use one of the browsers not found first, after running configure edit config.h and #define the one that you want along with it's path and #undef the one that was selected by configure.

Gtapecalc is clone of the Windows utility "Tapecalc Copyright 1995 by Neil J. Rubenking first published in PC Magazine Feb 7, 1995, U.S. Edition" with some added features, however it shares no code with it (I've never seen the source code). Credit to Neil for the idea, it was a utility that I had always found useful in Windows but had no equivalent in Linux.
