GNU ext2resize

GNU ext2resize is the first free (GPLed) ext2 filesystem resizer (ext2 is the filesystem found on GNU/Linux machines). The tools included in this package can be used to grow and shrink unmounted ext2 filesystems, and also grow mounted, in-use ext2 filesystems with the help of a kernel patch.

See the Resizing HOWTO (in doc/) and the ext2resize, ext2online, and ext2prepare man pages for more information on how to use this package.

There are kernel patches (in patches/) which allow you to resize ext2 filesystems while they are mounted, using the ext2online tool. Note that there is a patch for online resizing of ext3 filesystems included here, but it is not yet complete. You probably shouldn't use it... I only include it as a work in progress, because I want to make a new release of ext2reszie after such a long time -- Andreas.
