  5. History of MHDns.

Well, a friend of mine got a TZO account (same service as ml.org had except you have to pay for it). I don't believe in paying for anything that I can make myself, and I liked the idea of being able to get stuff from my computer when i was at a client/friends house. Hence, the creation of MHDns came. There are other programs out there that do the same thing as MHDns, but, they use TCP (bah) to transmit the information. Personally, i prefer UDP, it uses less bandwidth, and uses less load on the machine its running from.

2] Where is it?

Well obviously if your reading this, you already have it :). The primary site is currently located at: http://www.HToC.com/mhdns You can also download it from ftp ftp.HToC.com/pub/mhdns. I'm hoping that cdrom.com and similar sites will mirror it, because as of 'press' time, I'm on a 56K connection (Which is being upgraded to cable in 1 day :))

3] Installation/configuration

Installation and configuration is a snap. On your nameserver (or your friends nameserver) Do the following:

tar xvfz mhdns-<version>.tar.gz
cd mhdns
make
pico mhdns.conf
<modify anything that needs to be changed> pico data/mhdns.users
<change the information in here to suit your needs> mhdns

Make sure you have permission to run it of course :)

The client should be ran from your computer (dialup/cable/whatever) that you wish the domain to point to.

4] Contacting the author

If for some strange reason you'd like to get ahold of me, to tell me about bugs/features/problems/just to say hi. Send email to: wrees@HToC.com with a containing the words "MHDNS" (My mail program filters my mail for me, its easier to sift through emails)
I'm also available on #BitchX on EFNet (nick MHacker/MHackah) if i'm idle or don't answer, email me :)

If you find a bug or would like to make a suggestion, email it to: mhacker@HToC.com with a subject containing "MHdns".

Thanks for your support.
