In 'db' directory you'll find fortune2mysql program which can be used for converting fortune files (under /usr/share/games by default) to mysql database..
In server directory you'll find fortune world server used for establishing your own MOTD server.
In web directory there is a small php script that you can use in your web page.
The client software can read both from server host and mysql database.
PS: don't forget to modify config.h
