What is STEAK!

"Steak" is a dictionary for Unix Systems. The complete sources are available under the GNU-copyright notice. This is a very small program (not a client-server-solution), that allows you to translate the words (English <--> German). When you invocate the program you can give a word as an argument. When you execute the program without argument, it will automatically translate the word that is in the cut-paste-buffer (For example: if you mark or select a word under Netscape with mouse). "Xsteak" is a graphical front-end to the "steak" program. Xsteak uses the GTK+ library (http://www.gtk.org/) for its user interface.

Getting it

You can download the latest version of Steak from its homepage, at:

GTK 1.0.0 or greater (http://www.gtk.org/). Note that Xsteak was written and tested with GTK 1.2 ; it may or may not work correctly with other versions.
