This is the first release of KBStick and the QStick shell script.

KBStick is a program which reads from the Linux joystick interface and translates joystick messages to X Windows KeyCodes and sends the KeyCodes to X as fake keypress messages via the XTest extensions.

QStick is a shell script for setting up the environment varables that KBStick reads to assign KeyCodes to the joystick buttons/axes so that one can play keyboard-and-mouse or keyboard only X Windows games with a joystick.

To build KBStick and the QStick shell script, change to the directory where this file was unpacked and type:

make

This will (hopefully) create the kbstick executable and a default qstick shell script. Additional configuration information can be found in the HOWTO.html file and inside the qstick shell script itself.

To run this package, put the kbstick executable and the qstick shell script in your executables path, start an X Windows session, open an xterm and at the command line type:

qstick

Once again, more information and configuation details may be found in the HOWTO.html file and the qstick shell script itself.
