README

To install: see the INSTALL file. Note that these are not the usual install instructions.

To run: right-click on the gnome panel, select Add to panel, then Amusements, then Blogfish

To uninstall: run "uninstall". NB: This script is new and untested. It works on my system. Run with extreme care, especially as root! In other words, unless you can read the source, it might be better just to remove files manually.

Debugging

You can start blogfish in a separate window with the command:

blogfish --window

or

blogfish -w

You can choose a port with the option --port or -p, e.g.

blogfish --port 5000

And you can set passive mode on with "--port=PASV" or "-p PASV".

If you set the port/passive mode on the command line, changes to these values made from the configuration dialog will be ignored.

Finally, you can suggest a host to connect to with:

blogfish -h host:port

or

blogfish --host host:port

e.g.

blogfish --host foobar.com:5156

Getting help

Contact the mailing list, blogfish-general@lists.sourceforge.net . Or contact me, hughjonesd@yahoo.co.uk . But using the mailing list would be polite.

peerlist.cgi and peerlist.txt

These files are a simple perl script to print a list of recently known peers. You can put the URL to these files in the applet config dialog under "URL to get list of peers".

Patches, new fish etc.

See the TODO list for what is needed. Send patches to the mailing list at blogfish-general@lists.sourceforge.net
