IMPORTANT: PLEASE REPORT ANYTHING TO realmi2@yahoo.com!! I NEED FEEDBACK! ANY BUGS, IDEAS, OR SUGGESTIONS SHOULD BE E-MAILED TO realmi2@yahoo.com!! I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BUGS SO I CAN FIX THEM! I'VE GOTTEN ALMOST NO FEEDBACK AT ALL ON NOVAWM!

NovaWM is a new window manager for the X Windows System(X11). NovaWM is written from scratch and not based on any other window manager. NovaWM is developed with speed, size, and style in mind. NovaWM takes on its own style that is different than most window managers. NovaWM isn't too large and toyish like many popular window managers and desktops(KDE and GNOME). Like some window managers NovaWM has its own toolkit that is much easier to understand and develop with than most others though NovaWM itself doesn't use the toolkit to create its interface, reducing the dependancy on other libraries. For user convienece NovaWM doesn't use any library but X and all graphics are hard programmed.
(Toolkit development stalled at the moment) Note that this is only alpha software so don't expect much.. yet..

------------- [ Using NovaWM as your GNOME Window Manager ] -----------

NovaWM 0.7 introduced support for GNOME Atoms and Hints. NovaWM is now a GNOME Compliant Window Manager. If you want to use NovaWM with GNOME, then open the Gnome Control Center. In Desktop, click Window Manager. You will see a list of Window Managers and NovaWM probably isn't on it. Click Add. In Name type NovaWM. In Command type novawm --disable-bar. Click OK. Now select NovaWM on the list and click OK, and remember to save the session.

------------- [ Working with Virtual Desktops ] ------------

NovaWM 0.6 introduced Virtual Desktops. To send a window to a desktop: Right click the titlebar and you can click any of the Send To Desktop x items or to the next or previous desktop. To switch desktops you can use the key stroke Ctrl+[ to goto the previous desktop (From desktop 2 to desktop 1) or Ctrl+] to goto the next desktop (From desktop 3 to desktop 4). If you run a application like the GNOME Panel and notice that the Desk Guide Applet only shows one or not many desktops, then note that NovaWM dynamically creates desktops as needed. If you goto a desktop not shown on the Desk Guide, NovaWM will create it, as long as it doesn't exceed the maximum number of desktops.s

------------- [ Changing The Default Colors ] --------------

Currently there is one main way to change NovaWM's default color. Open novawm.h in your favorite editor. Look for a line like this: #define MAIN_COLOR COLOR_NAVYBLUE
You can change COLOR_NAVYBLUE to any of the above color defines, and recompile. In the future this will be easily configurabel and more flexible.

------------- [ Old Menu Format ] ----------------

The old NovaWM menu format is simple, it goes like this:

item name
command
item name
command

It must be saved as .novawm.menu in your home directory (~/.novawm.menu)
