- Freddy is an ascii text editor for QT. It is primarly a programmer editor, but it
will be strong with other types of text.
Why do we need another, isn't there enough?
There is a lot of editor, but there isn't an editor, what i like. I like a bit
Emacs, nedit, UltraEdit. My favourite is the editor of the DOS Navigator. My
baselines are:
- It must be free, it cannot tie the user's hands. I don't like if the cursor is jumping or I can't type text because of an error and I don't like beeps. That's because I don't use Emacs
- I can see ALL the operations, that i do. So if I copy to the clipboard I like to see a visual sign of it.
- The editor should be easy to use, and all of the function must be accessible with keys.
- The most frequently used functions must be optimised to accessible very easily. E.g I'm happy when I can use my find function.
And there will be much approvements in the future...
