KWATCH 2.3.3 --- KDE Log File Viewer
The new kwatch release 2 for KDE 2/3 is a port of kwatch 0.3 for KDE 1.1. Kwatch 2 is Copyright (C) 2000 by Martin Junius.
Please note that kwatch 2.3.1+ only works with Qt3 and KDE3!
The original Kwatch 0.3 is Copyright (C) 1997,1998 Ralph C. Weichert and can be distributed freely under the terms of the GNU General Public License. (see also README.old)
The original author seems to have abandoned kwatch and is no longer reachable under his e-mail address, so I took the liberty of porting kwatch to KDE2 and doing a major code clean-up and rewrite in this process.

"fc2" RPMs were build on Fedora Core 2 Linux
Changes in 2.3.3:
- Right button context popup menu fixed (finally?).
- Automatically reopen log files after idle timeout.
Changes in 2.3.2:
- Some changes to KLogWidget to make it actually work mit QTextEdit, which caused some new problems in KDE/Qt 3.1. Right-click context now works again.
Changes in 2.3.1:
- KLogWidget now derived from QTextEdit with some changes, text display and scrolling now works flawlessly.
Changes in 2.3.0:
- Release for KDE 3.0.x
- Still some issues with the text display, slow when removing lines at the top. QMultiLineEdit is no longer supported in Qt3, need to find a better solution based on QText, or include the old QMultiLineEdit code in kwatch.
Changes in 2.2.0:
- Release for KDE 2.2.x
- Added processing from ISDN incoming calls and iptables log entries, optionally with popup alerts and sound alerts, see config.
Changes in 2.0.1:
- Fixed missing version updated in README and kwatch.lsm.
Changes in 2.0.0:
- No real changes, kwatch declared stable ;-), version changed to reflect this, compiles with KDE 2.1 and 2.1.1.
Changes in 1.9.3:
- Minimal help documentation included.
- Right mouse button popup menu is back.
- Menubar can now be switched off to get a larger log window.
Changes in 1.9.2:
- Drag&Drop onto log window implemented.
- Avoid flicker in log window when deleting/inserting lines.
- Config parameters from klogwidget.cpp (maxlines, bufsize) can now be set in preferences dialog.
Changes in 1.9.1:
- Fixed nasty bug in preferences dialog, you couldn't add any new log file.
Changes in 1.9.0:
- Based on old kwatch 0.3
- Major rewrite for KDE 2.0
- TODO
-
- Highlight / different colors for different log files ... probably use something other then QMultiLineEdit as base for KLogWidget.
