PM2V is a project developed by students of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Electronique et de Radioelectronique de Bordeaux. ENSERB is a high national school of engineering based in Bordeaux (France). It has three departments: Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications.

PM2V is a library for parallel encoding a video sequence in MPEG II. PM2V is mainly based on mpeg2encode v1.2a, it aims to speed up the computing of video sequence by using multiple processors.

PM2V can use both SMP architectures or workstations network. The scalability is good for a reduced number of processors: typically up to eight. Performances for a workstations network are essentially limited by the bandwith (100 Mbit/s or higher is recommended).

It is important to note that PM2V is currently in development and is not fully functional.
