Welcome to Annarrchat 0.95

Annarrchat is a free chatroom implementation. It includes the following features:

  • Supports telnet connections to a user specified port (default is 9001)
  • mudlike command syntax and "social" commands
  • Unlimited channels including "invisible" channels
  • Private, channel only, and global communications
  • Channel and System operator commands
  • OS-neutral Java2 architecture
  • Beeps and highlights for private messages
  • Online help
  • Robust, stable networking platform
  • Modular, flexible code design

At The Aachen Project (http://aachen.amergin.org) we're in the process of putting together a MUD-like virtual world server. Annarrchat was our initial test project to familiarize ourselves with the basic tools and libraries involved. Development of the mud engine is nearing completion and it should also be released in the near future.

This version of Annarrchat is different from our current "Aachen Project" version. This version does not support authentication, or storage of users in an SQL database. If you would like to try out these features feel free to download the full Aachen Project source, which includes a number of services in addition to Annarrchat.

We welcome contributions to Annarrchat! If you would like to develop it further we would like to hear from you at aachen-project@amergin.org.

Thank You,
The Aachen Team
